Alyssa Machinis joined HPSI as the Marketing Director in 2015 after earning her Bachelor of Science in Advertising at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She is currently in her 2nd year of presidency of HPSI. She is a Decision Scientist at MERGE, where she uses research, trends, experiences, and data to help her clients solve problems. In her free time she enjoys trying new restaurants and cocktail bars, singing, and reading.
Xrisa Koulouris is currently a high school English teacher at Adlai Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, IL. Her ultimate purpose is helping students strive for excellence, by implementing a viable, rigorous literacy curriculum in the classroom. After graduate school and at least six years of teaching under her belt, Xrisa has been involved with literacy committees and organizations that value education. Currently, she holds the position of Co-Director of Education for the Pan-Laconian Federation of the USA and Canada. Xrisa has been involved with HPSI since 2015 as a board member and a participant of various events. To keep the Greek pride and enthusiasm alive and growing in our hearts for many generations, Xrisa is passionate to stay involved. She believes that HPSI offers the opportunity to network and get to know other Greeks in the professional realm.
Christina Gikasis a Non-Profit CEO and Social Worker who partners with other leaders, community influencers, and parents to enhance the lives of adolescents. Her authentic listening and direct communication skills, partnered with empathy, allows her to connect with clients and advocate for them through challenging times. Christina has made a positive difference by holding various leadership roles in committees, councils, organizations, and associations for the past 4 years. Today, she serves as Executive Director of the Winnetka Youth Organization; Chair of Loyola University Chicago’s Graduate, Professional, And Adult Council; GOLD Committee Member of North Park University’s Alumni Association; and Board Member of the Hellenic Professional Society of Illinois.
Alex Andre is Co-founder and CEO of Eschaton, a proprietary derivatives trading company. He earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and economics from the University of Notre Dame. In his free time he is a runner, amateur anthropologist, and shameless goofball. He loves bringing Greeks together and building community through HPSI.
Nick Colis is an Underwriting Manager at RLI Insurance Company. He graduated from Valparaiso University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In addition to serving on the HPSI Board since 2015, Nick is an active member of Saints Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Glenview, IL, where he serves on the Parish Council and is heavily involved with the annual Greek Festival.
Julie Stefanski works in the Accounting Department at Discover Financial Services supporting the payments accounting business. She earned her Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting at Loyola University Chicago. After earning her degree, she worked at Deloitte & Touche LLP in the Audit Practice primarily serving the Aerospace & Defense industry. In her free time, Julie is heavily involved in the Greek community through both her parish Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Glenview, IL as well as the Young Adult League of Chicago. Julie has been a member of HPSI since 2016 and passionate about building a strong network within the Greek community.
Dean Economos earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Minor in Biostatistics from Loyola University Chicago. He also earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business. He is currently employed as a Consultant at Capgemini. In his free time he enjoys fast cars, exploring the world, and trying new experiences.
Avrelia (Lia) Palivos is a Licensed Practical Nurse who specializes in memory care for the Greek-American Rehabilitation and Care Center (GARC). Lia is also the Nurse Liaison Manager for GARC. Her duties include marketing and assessing incoming residents. Since graduating as President of her Nursing School Class, Lia has dedicated nearly a decade to geriatric care at GARC. Lia has been a continuous supporter and advocate for numerous Greek-American organizations, including Hippocratic Cancer Research Foundation and Panhellenic Scholarship Foundation. She also participates in the community by volunteering at various food drives and contributing to Little City Foundation. For Lia, nursing is a universal gift that delivers daily kindness to those in need and reminds us of the fundamental humanity inside all of us. Lia treats everyone like her very own γιαγιά and her very own παππού. Lastly, she continuously thrives to inspire the residents, but it’s the residents who inspire her.
Nikos Tsonis obtained his BA from Yale University in Philosophy and his JD/MBA from Boston University. He is a partner at Tsonis & Associates, LLC, a boutique law firm focusing on commercial and industrial property assessment law, and is a passionate board member of HPSI.
George Logothetis is a Senior Director at Aon. His background includes industry and consulting experience in strategy, process and delivery in Financial Services, Retail, Pharmacy, and Supply Chain. George has proven ability in developing business and operating model strategy while leveraging his deep leadership skills to deliver for Fortune 100 companies. Prior to returning as a Senior Advisor to HPSI in 2015, George had served on the Board, including two years as President, between 2003 and 2010. George is passionate about giving back to the Hellenic-American community and is happy to use his personal network of Hellenes across multiple professions to assist others.
Spiro Tsirikolias works in assurance services at Ernst & Young with clients from real estate and retail consumer product industries. He decided to pursue accounting after taking a couple of accounting courses in high school. He enjoys learning how businesses operate and communicate their financial information. On a personal note, when Spiro visits Greece his favorite thing to do is spend time with his cousins, aunts, and uncles. Whether it is going out for coffee or spending the day on the beach, it's always great to be around family.
Evan Theodoropoulos earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a Minor in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and his Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago Liautaud Graduate School of Business. He has passed the CPA Examination and is awaiting licensure. Evan is currently employed at Grant Thornton LLP in their Audit Practice where he focuses primarily on not-for-profit organizations. He grew up in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago and attends the parish of Sts Constantine and Helen. In his free time, Evan enjoys playing on his firm’s soccer and volleyball teams as well as playing other sports, volunteering, vacationing, and socializing with friends and family.
Alexander Facklis is senior technical architect at Motorola Solutions where he designs end-to-end solutions for customers using Motorola and third party products and technologies. He is a versatile systems professional with diverse project-based experience spanning global multinational organizations, small businesses and startups in multiple industries. Having started his first business at 18, he brings an entrepreneurial perspective to his work. On a personal level, he enjoys soccer, fitness, modern Greek language and culture, Orthodox Christian spirituality, arts, interacting with his nephews and niece, and volunteering.
Stacy Economy became a member of HPSI in 2015. She obtained her Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in Structural Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and currently works for Pepper Construction Company. In her free time she has served as the Alumnae Advisor of Kappa Phi Delta Sorority and enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring Chicago's urban fabric. Stacy looks forward to strengthening the Hellenic network in Illinois.
Joy Logothetis earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagin, and her Master of Medical Science from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She became a board-certified Physician Assistant in 2012 and has experience in clinical, surgical, and inpatient settings. She has practiced Dermatology since 2013, and is employed at Medical Dermatology Associates in Chicago. Her various dermatological interests include treating eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, and acne, and loves educating her patients on various therapies and preventative measures. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, catching up with family and friends, and trying to keep up with her twin daughters.
