On Saturday, February 5th, 2011, a large group of Greek professionals gathered at N9ne Steakhouse in Chicago to celebrate the 30th annual Valentine's Day Soiree. Attendees represented the Hellenic Professional Society of Illinois, the Hellenic Bar Association, the Hellenic Dental Society, and the Greek Women's University Club for this annual event.

Despite the cold and snow outside, the sounds of DJ Yanni of "Greektown Music" had everyone warm upstairs in the section called Ghostbar as he had people dancing to new and traditional Greek songs. People mingled, danced, and partook in a scrumptious buffet until 12am, when the party moved downstairs to the main bar.

December 3, 2010

The Hellenic Professional Society of Illinois got the Christmas season started off right at the annual Christmas Soiree. The Willis Tower offered the perfect locale for amazing views of the Chicago skyline, fantastic food and drink, and socializing between friends, old and new.

With over 120 dressed-to-impress attendees at the event, the Sounds of Greece made sure to keep the party going with favorite Greek and American music. Partiers danced the night away, and we were politely asked to shut down after 5 hours, like any normal Greek event. The event drew many from the Chicagoland area, as well as attracting individuals who drove 2-3 hours to attend the ever-growing event.

Thanks to all who helped to put on this amazing event and we look forward to seeing you for an HPSI Christmas in 2011!

In an ongoing attempt for HPSI to accomplish its mission by cooperating with other organizations of professional people in promoting the Hellenic spirit and culture, HPSI and International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) engaged in its annual wine tasting fundraiser event on January 29th, hosted at the Sports Corner Bar & Grill in Wrigleyville. Patrons in excess of 100 partook in a tasting and consumed an array of wine samplings provided to us by Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.

Established in 1992 as an official international humanitarian organization, IOCC seeks to provide assistance to the poor, either in response to emergencies or long term socio-economic development needs. Every dollar raised helps IOCC secure $7 of support from governments, ecumenical organizations and other funding sources. This year's event raised over $4000 through the event entrance fee and raffle ticket sales. We had 8 lucky winners win 10 great prizes, all donated by various Hellenic businesses.

In November 2010, HPSI met at the Greek American Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to spend time with residents of the facility. The afternoon was spent chatting, playing bingo, eating treats and enjoying November's flare (inside). Not only were many board members present at this event, but HPSI was able to welcome new faces to our photo gallery, from as far away as Michigan! Great cheer and excitement was felt from the residents, who truly appreciated the visit. HPSI looks forward to continuing this yearly philanthropic event!.
